I recommend using butt connectors for attaching the wires along with a set of crimpers. Avoid using electrical tape at all costs.
The harness pictured above will be a vehicle specific harness. To find out which one you need for your car visit Metra Online and use the vehicle fit guide to determine the correct harness to purchase. You will pay somewhere around twenty bucks for a harness with the wires pictured above in a retail car audio store.
